Mathematica License Agreement - Student Version

This software is provided to you under an agreement between The Ohio State University and Wolfram, Inc. Under the terms of the license agreement, if you are a current part-time or full-time student or student who is registered in a class that recommends or requires Mathematica, you may use this software while you are associated with the university. You may not a) transfer, rent, lease, or sublicense the software, b) decompile, disassemble, reverse-engineer or create a derivative work of the software, or c) use it for commercial gain or profit. When you are no longer a current student, you must remove this software from your computer.

The software is for use on your personal computer only. You are authorized to install this software on one computer.

This software is protected by both United States copyright laws and international treaty provisions. Archival copies of this software may be made for the sole purpose of backing up your software.

Download Mathmatica

First read the information that follows about downloading and installing the software and then signify your acceptance of the preceding license terms by clicking below.

Because of licensing restrictions, you'll be connected to a secure sever once you click on the "I agree" link above. You'll be required to enter your OSU Internet username and password to access this server. Warning: This file is very large; do not attempt to download it using a modem connection unless you're prepared to wait a number of hours for the process to complete.

Install Mathematica

Note: As you're downloading the Mathematica install file, the type of information that appears on your screen varies depending on the browser you're using.

  1. When the install file has finished downloading and uncompressing, you should have a file called "math5_2w.exe" on your computer. First you must unzip this file.

  2. Choose Run in the Start menu and then click on the Browse button in the dialog box.

  3. Locate the directory where you downloaded the file, and double-click on math5_2w.exe to extract the setup program.

  4. When prompted for a destination directory for the unzipped files, choose an empty, temporary directory and click on the Unzip button.

  5. When this is done, close all open windows and then start the setup program; choose Run in the Start menu and then click on the Browse button in the dialog box.

  6. Navigate to the directory where you chose to extract the Mathematica seup program and then double-click on the file Setup.exe.

  7. A "Mathematica for Students Setup " dialog box appears; select the type of install, and click on the Install button to continue.

  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Note: Full instructions about registering your copy of Mathematica are contained in the "readme.doc" file downloaded with the software. This can be viewed with Microsoft Word or Wordpad.
