| CiscoVPN Client V4.9.01
(for MacOS X) [top] OSUnet VPN service is designed as a solution for students, faculty, and staff to be able to have remote usage to the OSUnet network that is authenticated and secure. This authentication is accomplished by a "client" VPN program which communicates with a server located at OSU. Some networked services are not allowed from "off campus" networks due to security concerns. This VPN service offers a solution when these services are required by OSU faculty, staff or students. Individuals should work with their departmental Information Technology staff to determine if there is a need for this VPN service, as some departments block similar network services as well as additional services at the department level. |

Virex V7.7 Patch 1 (for MacOS X) [top This is a patch for the corporate version of Virex. An issue exists with the default permissions and validation of specific files belonging to McAfee Virex 7.7 that may allow for local authenticated command execution. A successful exploit of this security flaw would allow a local privileged attacker to execute code on the machine running the indicated software. These injected commands would be limited to the privileges of the id in which the Virex 7.7 product is running on the machine. In order to accomplish this exploit, an attacker would have to have authenticated access to the machine. Updating McAfee Virex 7.7 to patch 1 will correct issues with file permissions and validation. Note: This patch includes all Virex Hotfixes previously provided by OIT. |
