Install TurningPoint

As you're downloading the install file, the type of information that appears on your screen varies depending on the browser you're using. After downloading the TurningPoint file, you can proceed with installation. First you must unzip the download.

  1. Close all windows on your desktop.

  2. Click Start and then Run.

  3. Browse to the subdirectory where you downloaded the TurningPoint software and click on the file tpoint2006.exe. Click Open and then click OK to begin unzipping the files.

  4. When prompted for an "Unzip to Folder," use an empty, temporary directory on your hard drive.

  5. Click the Unzip button in the "WinZip Self-Extractor" window to begin extracting the setup files.

  6. Open the folder where you unzipped the files. Start the installation by double clicking on the file, Trnpoint2006.exe.

  7. You may get a Security Warning screen. Click Run to allow this file to run. The Installation Wizard will appear.

    NOTE: During installation, the TurningPoint 2006 Installation Wizard will check your computer's configuration. If you receive a request to run the TurningPoint Update Utility, you must run this utility to ensure a successful installation. Follow all on-screen instructions. After running the Update Utility, click OK to close and continue.

  8. Click the Next button to continue with installation.

  9. If you accept the terms of the License Agreement, choose "I accept the terms in the license agreement" and then click the Next button.

  10. Type in your customer information (Organization would be OSU) and click the Next button.

  11. Specify a location to install TurningPoint and click the Next button. (Unless otherwise instructed by your IT Department, leave the location at the default.)

  12. Click the Install button and TurningPoint will begin installing. You may see a screen indicating "software has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows". Click Continue Anyway. Click the Finish button when the process is complete.

If you would like to immediately open the program, select "Launch TurningPoint." To open TurningPoint at a later time, double-click on the TurningPoint Icon on the desktop or open the program through your Start menu. Upon launch of the program, the Activate License screen will appear.

  1. Choose "Activate License over the Web" and click the Next button.

  2. Choose "I have purchased a license of TurningPoint" and click the Next button.

  3. Enter the 16-character license code in the file, "TurningPoint Install Tip.txt". This is downloaded along with TurningPoint. Fill in the rest of the fields and click the Next button.

  4. Click the Finish button.

  5. Click the OK button. You've completed the installation and activation.
